The Ontology of Relational Being

Concept

I keep returning to the problem of what it means to exist in relation — not relation as a secondary condition that qualifies a prior, self-sufficient being, but relation as the very structure through which a self emerges at all. The encounter precedes the one who encounters. What interests me is not simply the fact of difference, but the conditions under which difference becomes generative rather than threatening — the threshold at which the other stops being a problem and starts being a resource for becoming.

This line of enquiry runs through almost everything I write. It is not a conclusion. It is the question I am still inside.
